Agape Village

Agape Village,
FPC’s Sunday School program for 1st through 5th grades, follows the Workshop Rotation Model. (www.rotation.org

Our goal is to fully engage and excite the children as they explore key Bible stories and truths that reveal God’s will and unconditional love. Rotations (units of study) last 5-6 weeks, allowing the children time to explore, process, and apply the concepts in different ways and on different levels.  Our “Weavers” (1st and 2nd graders) and “Carpenters” (3rd,4th, and 5th graders) arrive at the “Courtyard” each week for a brief opening time, where they sing,  share, and anxiously await the announcement of their workshop destination.

9:30 am each Sunday on the 3rd level of Educational Wing

September marks the beginning of our fifth year of Workshop Rotation Sunday School for elementary-age children.  The Agape Village Writing Team has been working

diligently all summer to put together units of study that will capture the children’s

interest with informative, hands-on, and thought-provoking activities.  Many thanks to our creative teachers who have worked so hard this summer to write these wonderful lessons.

SPECIAL ROTATIONS for SEPTEMBER: PARENT/CHILD CLASSES

Worship Readiness

For our “Weavers” (children in grades 1 and 2) AND their parents.

Worship is something we DO.  We listen, we pray, we sing, and we give.  In this class, children (with  their parents’ help)  will develop skills that will help them understand the “whats” and “whys” of worship. This will enable them to be actively engaged in the worship services rather than struggling to sit still and remain quiet.

Children at the Lord’s Table

For our “Carpenters”  (children in grades 3,4,5) AND their parents.

A class to prepare children for the Lord’s Supper.  Class will begin at 9 AM and last until 10:30 AM.  Each week the families will experience different aspects of Communion through projects, games, songs, meals and study. Children and their parents will learn how to truly CELEBRATE communion as a family!

Fifth graders who have already completed the “Children at the Lord’s Table” (Fall  2006)  will spend the month of September reviewing and “exploring” in the computer lab with Mrs. Hampton.

                             Coming in October!

Adult Electives

At First Presbyterian Church, we are dedicated in our effort to provide the very best in Christian Education.  This includes our adults!  The Adult Sunday School program places a special emphasis on providing a wide variety of interesting choices.  Our hope is that, by doing so, you will find an option that sparks your interest and suits your needs.

The Elective program is designed to offer a variety of short term courses throughout the year.  Each course falls into one of four categories:  Bible Study, Theology, Spiritual Formation, and Christian Life.  Adults may choose which course to attend according to their individual interests and needs.
